We are happy to pronounce some progress on our project! After some quiet weeks the propeller mould finally arrived. Metallgießerei Wilhelm Funke in Alfeld (Germany) was kind enough to mill it for us, as we don’t have the proper equipment for that. Today we will start laminating the propeller blades. The sockets have already been placed into the moulds. Get detailed information about the design of the propeller.
As already mentioned, we have received some parts of the engine mount and the propeller slide which were manufactured in the ILR at TU Berlin. Now we have assembled the individual parts and installed the propeller slide in the B13 nose. It slides! Have a look at the recent developments of our project:
Am 27.06.2016 stellen wir unseren Prototypen B13e auf den Sportflächen hinter dem Hauptgebäude der TU aus. Von 10-15 Uhr sind wir vor Ort und beantworten gerne Fragen zu unserer Arbeit im Bereich des elektrischen Fliegens. Die ersten Teile für unseren selbst konstruierten elektrischen Antrieb sind bereits zusammengebaut, sodass sich interessierte Besucher über den aktuellen Projektfortschritt informieren können.
Finally, we can put together parts of the engine mount! Fortunately, we got supported by the „Institut für Luft- und Raumfahrt“ at the Technical University Berlin. Over the last months the first parts for our engine mount were built In their workshop. Half of the propeller slide is ready for installation and also the landing gear lever. We are excited to receive all parts to put the engine mount together!
Last week, we prefinished both nose covers. They are a carbon fiber construction with embedded pinning positions for a seamless aerodynamic fit. They will be attached to the nose with four „guiding arms“, two for each side of the nose. We already finished constructing and building the guiding arms. March 2016 Since our propeller design is a complete new development, smart prototyping is very helpful for us. With our 3D-Printer we are able to print different parts and moulds of the propeller. By this we are proofing and adapting the concept. With the printed moulds, we were able to build some parts (material: carbon fiber reinforced plastic) and identify the challenges of manufacturing.
